Biography
Mery’s educational journey began at the Teacher Training National College “Gh. Lazar” in Cluj-Napoca, where she graduated in 1994 with a degree in primary education. Her passion for geography led her to Babes-Bolyai University’s Faculty of Geography, where she specialized in Geomorphology and earned her Bachelor’s degree. Mery’s teaching career took off as a Geography teacher at Liceul Teoretic Nr. 5, eventually leading her to expand her professional horizons in the United States.
In the US, Mery’s teaching methodology was refined across diverse educational settings, including standard classrooms, special education programs, and through in-home therapy for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, alongside their families. During her nearly 15-year tenure in the US, she acquired a first-level certificate in Pivotal Response Treatment from the Koegel Autism Center at the University of California. Furthering her expertise, in 2015, Mery completed her Master’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis from Kaplan University. Feeling the call to bring her wealth of experience and innovative teaching approaches back home, Mery returned to Romania, aspiring to contribute to a school that champions independence, applied learning, inclusivity, genuine connections, and community engagement.
Mery’s philosophy is that every child is unique, and it is the educator’s role to identify and cultivate this individuality. She believes in nurturing curious, explorative, creative students who are prepared to make a difference today and in the future. Outside the classroom, Mery’s passions include hiking, photography, exploring the countryside around the globe, culinary experiments, indulging in travel literature, and the intellectual challenge of Sudoku.
